« “Following further studies in Animal Husbandry in the Ariège town of Pamiers and a professional degree in Food Quality and Safety, I decided to join the national police. I served in the force in Ariège for six years. If I wanted to seek advancement in the police force, I needed to move to the Parisian region. In spite of the job security I could have, I decided to leave my job to stay in the département I love and set up my small business.
Ariège offers all the qualities required for setting up a livestock rearing business: good land, technical support and a clientele keen to consume local produce. So I decided to return to my point of departure and set up in business rearing Gascony black pigs on open pasture. My activity is a success thanks to a close relationship between farmers and consumers.
Today, I no longer ask myself “Why Ariège?” but rather “Why go elsewhere when everything you can wish for can be found here?”

“We are two young producers of donkey’s milk. On our farm, we have more than 30 Pyrenean donkeys, which we milk every day. Once the milk collected, we become creators of donkey’s-milk cosmetics. We have come up with several products for all the family and we are still expanding our range.
To diversify our business, we also propose activities such as donkey trekking, initiation to milking and soap-making.
Today, the adventure continues with our plans to set up some tourist accommodation on the farm to round off our already very full days!
In Ariège, we feel supported by the local players and encouraged in our actions.”
